Trust... Why Us? The US in trust.

To make a pledge of financial support for Northwest UU Church is to invest in the promise and potential of a trusted community. Trust is the bedrock upon which we build our shared future—a future where our values and principles guide us toward collective well-being. When we speak of trust, we must ask, “Why us?” What does the “us” in trust mean within the context of our UU community?

Trust is a reciprocal relationship. It is founded on the understanding that each member is committed to the well-being of the whole. By pledging financial support, you are making a tangible commitment to uphold and sustain the values we cherish - justice, equity, compassion, and interdependence. This financial pledge is a manifestation of the trust that we place in each other and in our ability to be a beacon of love, hope and acceptance in these trying times.

The “us” in trust signifies a collective responsibility. It’s a recognition that our community thrives on the active participation and support of each individual. When you make a financial pledge, you are not just contributing resources; you are investing in the collective strength and resilience of our congregation.

This trust empowers us to pursue our mission with confidence. Knowing that we have the support of our members, we can maintain our building, keeping it a warm and inviting place for worship and for gathering in common cause. This trust incudes supporting our staff as they work to empower and facilitate our aspirations and endeavors.  We do good work!

And we hope for a future in which Northwest offers even more of what is important to us and others!

We have started on that journey, and together, we can build the future we imagine. Our shared ministry has brought new vitality to Northwest and we are starting to explore the possibilities our collaboration with UU Detroit can bring.

Through our collective investment in Northwest during our annual canvass and conversations about our goals during the year ahead, we will build our way into the future.

How much should I pledge?

For those who are new to the pledging process or for those who want to increase their commitment, we ask you to examine the guidelines below as you consider how much your fair share of church support should be.

Of course, you must consider your personal financial situation in deciding how much you should pledge. These figures are offered as a guideline. They are suggestions. Some will give more; others may give less. It is your decision. Please give at the level that expresses your commitment and stewardship to Northwest Unitarian Universalist Church.

We ask you to strive toward a goal of 8% of your annual gross adjusted income to support our liberal religious community.  Two percent is considered a basic pledge, 4% a sustaining pledge and 8% or higher an outstanding pledge.

All pledges are received with gratitude.
